Blizzard CEO Will Komassa stops by the podcast to discuss how he’s taken Blizzard Lighting from his basement to a near $10M company since it was founded in 2010.
Will started Blizzard Lighting after being let go from a well-paying job at a respected global company – something he refers to, in hindsight, as the greatest and most positive “misfortune” he’s ever had. When asked what his favorite part of being on the Blizzard Lighting team is, Will replied, “Working with the greatest bunch of lovable losers in the lighting world! How many people get to go to work and play with awesome lights, be surrounded by hilarious misfits and drive a forklift that has steer horns and a ‘La Cucaracha’ horn on it? I love what I do, I love the people I work with (especially my wife), and I love seeing our products being used all over the world!”
Will graduated from Brookfield East High School in 1997. He received a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2001 and a J.D. (Law) in 2005. But, before all that, Will had many positions, including custard stand employee, stage hand, master electrician, web developer, law clerk, TV sports videographer and global human resource consultant/expatriate tax consultant.
He also describes himself as being a decent singer who will drop a tune anywhere after a couple of margaritas. His hobbies include woodworking, listening to and playing music, collecting and restoring pinball machines, performing home improvement, taking on rogue carpentry projects and enjoying anesthesia. He also collects tropical fish, RC helicopters and Legos.
